SUNRISE, HIGH NOON

Ludlow Press Poetry

Sunrise, High Noon

And the callow sun,
A big-bellied
And shiny yellow
Clay pot slowly
Rises in the sky.
By high noon it
Shatters into shards
Of sharpest light,
Bleeding the hours:
A blinding omen
Of the coming dark.
